Teaching Assistant (Band 6) – SEND (flexibility to work in Lion Cubs or the SEMH ARP)

    Contract Type: Permanent
Grade: Band 6 (£25,989, Term time only plus 5 days, Pro-rata – actual salary £20,329)

    Hours: 33.5 Hours
    Start Date: September 2026
Location: Lion Cubs KS1 class or SEMH ARP

    About the Role

Rossmere Academy has a strong reputation as a school with inclusion at its heart. We have highly respected provision for children with SEND, an 8 place Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for children across Hartlepool who have SEMH difficulties that may present as challenging behaviour and a specialist class (Lion Clubs).

Our ARP offers a high quality ‘second chance’ for primary school children and delivers a full curriculum through therapeutic activities, firm boundaries and a focus on their talents and skills. No two days are the same and this is a job that requires huge enthusiasm and energy. It is also a job that is great fun with a very supportive staff team who all share a great sense of humour!

Lion Cubs was created in response to a shortage of places in specialist provision for young children from Reception - Year 2 who have an EHCP. We have developed a haven for these incredible children from our school community, with use of Makaton, PECS and an engagement curriculum that meets their needs very well.

The successful candidate will be someone who:

    • Has energy, enthusiasm and a passion for shaping young lives
    • Is resilient with a positive attitude as some days can be challenging
    • Is patient, kind and with a good sense of humour

    We can offer all candidates:

    • The chance to be part of a school and Trust that values its staff
