Parents' Surveys

  • Parents Surveys

We value highly the contribution that you are able to make to your child’s education and actively encourage parents to become involved in the life of the school.

We encourage all parents to use Ofsted Parent View to record their views.

For those parents who prefer, an annual Parent Questionnaire is sent to parents and analysed:

From 2018 Parent Views have been collected on a regular basis using Survey Monkey, with a link posted on the school Facebook and Twitter pages. The results are shown below –

    February 2018 – General Survey (67 responses)

    • Do you think your child is taught well at this school? 100% of parents said yes, but 6% felt that teaching is stronger in some subjects than in others. This was then looked at in a review of staffing expertise and was addressed with the employment of a Sports’ Coach and a Spanish teacher.
    • Views were sought on Theme Days and Forest School Activities – 100% of parents were very positive, but a number felt that school should not put pressure on parents to make costumes for these events.

    March 2018 – Uniform (132 responses)

    • School has provided a free school jumper for every child for the last few years. Would you rather we spent the money elsewhere? 45% wanted school to buy waterproofs for Forest School to prevent coats getting money, 22% wanted us to fund PE kit, 6% were undecided and 27% wanted to continue receiving a jumper. A decision was made to buy PE kit and more waterproofs. We then started a second hand rail which parents are using to get replacement jumpers.

April 2018 – End of term plans (103 responses)

    • Should Rossmere have an early finish before a holiday like some other schools? 58% said yes and 42% said no. Comments were made on the impact on working parents. We therefore decided not to go ahead with this.
    • Should we hold more non uniform days (such as on the last day of term) to raise money? 78% said yes and 22% said no

    September 2018 – Parental Involvement (83 responses)

    • Would you like to be invited to assemblies when your child receives an award? 24% said no because they would be unable to leave work to attend, 76% said yes as long as notice is given.
    • Would you like to attend a lesson with your children to see how they are taught? 10% said no, 90% said yes
    • Are you happy with arrangements for speaking to staff before and after school? 100% were happy although some would prefer to speak to the teacher rather than the TA or to go to the office to speak to a senior member of staff.

September 2018 – Start of the year (50 responses)

    • Is your child happy in their new class? 100% said yes
    • Is your child enjoying playtime / lunchtime? 92% said yes, 8% said no and gave details of the reasons, which were then resolved
