Forest School Facilities

The Forest school is a large area of our school field that has been designed to be used as a Forest School. It includes a small ravine with rocks for climbing or sitting on, a pond area for pond dipping, an area the turns into a mud patch in winter and a wide variety of trees and plants.

Within the forest there are opportunities for role play in Hobbit Holes or using the mud kitchen.

There is a paved area just inside the gate – ideal for setting up tables, parking pushchairs or for chalk drawings on the floor. Facing this we also have a small amphitheatre for putting on shows or just to seat a large group.

For shelter and to provide a lovely calm space to gather as a group, play games or listen to stories there is a large Yurt that contained cushions for children to sit on and a storytelling chair.

There is also a purpose built classroom with tables and chairs, resources for all the activities you may wish to carry out, a kitchen area with a sink and toilet facilities.

The whole area is secure – surrounded by a 7 foot high fence with locked gates, meaning that all children using the Forest School are safe.

  • All children at Rossmere Primary School have lessons in our Forest School every week.
